Hola amigos!!

its been 2 weeks in Costa Rica and everything is going excellently. My first week was in a region known as Monteverde, where hundreds of acres of rainforest are reserved it was beyond beautiful. pictures are up @ http://community.webshots.com/user/thebeachbum83. after that week, we headed back into the city, Heredia where we will be staying for the remainder of the semester. its a nice town-sized city where i can easily walk almost anywhere. i don´t really have pictures of the city up yet but hopefully soon. the park here is really nice, located directly in the center of the city there´s a nice fountain and a pretty church etc...we´ve been really busy running around the city and we went to san jose one day and our first real days off were this weekend. we went to a fubol game instead of watching the super bowl...which i´m glad for because i heard the big game was aweful. the national costa rica selection beat the selection from trinidad 4-0 it wasn´t really a close game at all but it was fun. i have some pictures to put up but i probably wont get around to it for a few days.

today was supposed to be the first day of classes for the university, but due to some major problems in the UNA staff and lack of organization, most of us aren´t even enrolled in all the classes we registered for. out of 5, my schedule only has 2 classes...so all we can do is wait and hope things get straightened out... well i don´t have much else to say except adios y buena suerte

welcome once again readers!

so my time is near, my adventure begins in less than a week and my packing process has already begun and my house is aclutter with my belongings preparing to fly the seemingly endless hours toward my destination of San Jose, Costa Rica. But as i am unsure of the internet situation while i will be away, i also cannot be sure as to when my journal will be updated. also to help with the availability of pictures that i am sure to take while i'm away, i've set up an account with webshots, so once i get some pictures to put up they will be viewable at http://community.webshots.com/user/thebeachbum83

so, as my time approaches wish me luck in my endeavors.

until next we speak,
Steve aka Esteban

ps. does this make you happy eric?

Bienvenidos a Butler IFSA

Well hello there, my name is Steve and i am currently the only Latin American Studies major at my college...

now that introductions are through with, i'll get with the program...literally

I'm not new with LJ, but all this new mumbo-jumbo bullcrap is unnecessary...but i haven't updated my old journal in ages, so i thought i'd start a new one. But this will be more of a themed LJ because i don't have the time to write about my daily life between all my classwork and miscellaneous other stuff.

As you're probably not one of the probably 6 people i've told already, i would like to let you know that i just received an email...very exciting for myself, but very sad for some of those around me. This email was regarding my semester's study abroad next january. That's right, i have been accepted into IFSA butler's Universidad Nacional program in Heredia, Costa Rica!!!

Dear Steven,

You have been accepted to study abroad at Universidad Nacional, Semester 1
2007 through the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler)

So as you've probably guessed, the theme of this LJ will be about my adventures in Costa Rica. But as i won't be there until january, don't expect alot of updates until then (mainly eric).

Nearly every day of my life for the past 3 years dreaming about studying abroad in a beautiful tropical climate. This is the very program that first got me excited about the school that i'm in now (Assumption College for those of you who aren't with the game). It just seemed so fast that the last 3 years have just flown by and now its time for me to fulfill yet another dream of mine. So many of my friends have gone or will be going within the next year that it seems only fitting for me to continue my collegiate journey and broaden my horizons; hey who knows...maybe i'll make a few friends along the way.

I hope that you will join me in my escapades and enjoy it as much as i do

thank you and goodnight,
Steve
